Details of swap:
...

I was thinking that since summer is almost here (already feels like it's here some days in Florida, lol) that it would be really cool for everyone to have a new dress for summer that they didn't have to make themselves.  I myself am a bit of a bohemian/hippy/new ager style person and love the beautiful hippy, patchwork, and appliqu dresses that I've seen online but still don't have one   Soooo... I started thinking, wouldn't it be fun if there were a "hippy" dress swap.  Participants would make 1 dress for their partner based on measurements, favorite things, etc.

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER:

Name of swap: Hippy Dress Swap

Craftster:

Email address:

Your real name:

Mailing address:

Would you be willing to ship to an address outside of the US?

Favorite Color(s):

Favorite Length of Dresses (may be helpful if you measure from your shoulder to where you'd like you dress to end):

Favorite Things (IE, trees, critter type, flower, design this can help your partner design for you):

Favorite fabrics (just a thought, not sure about this one it might make it too complicated)

Measurements (chest, waist, hips, etc):

Sleeves/No Sleeves/Straps?

With a back or backless?

Do you mind elastic being in your garments? Yes/No

Special Body Issue that should be taken into account?

Anything else you think your partner should know? (Allergies to critters, smells, etc.)

IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, REMEMBER TO SEND YOUR INFO TO ORGANIZER VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE AND NOT TO REPLY WITH IT HERE.

Also remember to read the Swap Info Guide to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.

I know I'm just about bouncing over this one, I love being creative.  Just yesterday I took a $9 2 yard remanent of dark red taffeta and made an awesome embroidered prom outfit Smiley  I can't wait to get started on making a hippyish dress.

I'm going to look around the web for some inspiration dresses and post the link here that way we can all see in photo what folks styles are in addition to the questions in the sign up.

don't sweat it rosali, it's my firm belief that if you can sew a pillow you can sew anything, that's what I tell people who take my gown making classes at various events and they go home that day with their very own goddess gown which is a variation on a kaftan/tunic/chemise drafted from the shape of their favorite shirt. Next time I'll be introducing them to the joy of finishing edges with bias tape as it's the absolute easiest way (without a serger) to do an edge.  If you'd like PM me and I'll send you the directions sew you can give it a try  Smiley

Great job on the tutorial.  Thanks for taking the time to do that.  It was very easy to understand and I'm sure its very helpful to beginning garment sewers.
