hey you!
here´s my tutorial for the bag, as I promissed a long time ago, (sorry) – i posted here:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=80121.msg752196#msg752196
I don´t speak english very well, so I posted loooots of pictures for you to understand it better, hope you like it.
It´s kind of hard to make, I´m still making some changes at the pattern, but it seems to work fine with me. Some steps may sound a little “obscured” or confused, but with the pieces of fabric in your hands it´s easier to understand, believe me.
Please ask me if you´re having trouble to understand it!
I finished the english version (with my poor, poor english). Here we go:

This is the scheme for the pattern (the rounded rectangle is the lining):

1 – Straps: cut 2 rectangles with 8,5 x 58 cm of the outer fabric
2 and 6 – Botton: cut 2 rectangles with 8,5 x 50 cm, 1 of the outer fabric and 1 of the lining fabric
3 and 7 – Top – “zipper part”: cut 4 rectangles with 5,5 x 36 cm, 2 of the outer fabric and 2 of the lining fabric
4 – cut 2 of these in the outer fabric
5 – cut 2 of these in the outer fabric (see I have added some things for embelishment!)
8 and 9 – Lining: cut 2 of these in the lining fabric (see I have added a pocket at one – it´s a simple rectangle)

Step 1: The straps:

Just sew it with the right sides facing and then “reverse” it (shown in picture)

Step 2: The zipper (it´s for a 30 cm zipper):

There are a lot of great tutorials teaching how to do this (I learned it here at Crafster), here is one great ziper tutorial: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=10165.0
It must look like this after you attach the zipper at the rectangles (3 and 7)

Step 3:

Then you have to sew together parts 4 and 5, right sides facing, as you see at the picture. Then reverse it, to the right side. Don´t forget to leave a small hole at the top of it, you you´ll use this to reverse the bag (you´ll see in the next pictures).

Step 4: Now the zipper and the botton:
You need to sew the parts 2 and 6 at the zipper set (you already made). Leave a little space unsewn at the beggining and the end of it (you´ll see why at the next step). Here is a picture of the process:

and you get this:

do it at the other side and you´ll get this “circle”:

Step 5: Now, sew the lining parts (8 and 9) at the lining of the “circle”.

why we left the space unsewn at the beggining and at the end:

now you have this:

Step 6: Do the same to the parts we sew together at step 3:
at the wrong side

see the right side:

you´ll have this:

see the hole? we you´ll reverse the bag through it:

Step 7: The rings:
atach the rings as you see at the picture (you´ll need 4 rings)

Here it is:

hope you liked it! and I really hope this tut works! please pm me if you have troubles with it!
thank you girls!
 Kiss

Nice tutorial.

I is very clear, even with minimal explanations.

I've been to your site, your bags are very creative  and well done. I love "chita" and it's shameless prints.

On your site: why don't you make an english version so you can sell the bags all around the world? I am a programmer, I live in São Paulo and maybe I can help. Send me a PM if you are interested.

Well, I just sew it with  the sewing machine, with the smaller stitch, and very close to the edge (with wrong sides facing. I used to do it by hand, but it wasn´t very strong... this is not the most beautiful way to do it, but if you are carefull, people wouldn´t even notice the "closed hole"

I just finished this bag, and the instructions were VERY confusing. The bag was smaller than I thought, but I love it dearly because it's my very own. I would reccomend getting about 0.75 yards for each the lining and the outer.

Cheers!!

thanks so much!  this is definately going on my "to sew" list!
the approximate finished size is:
24 cm width, 19 cm height, 6 cm depth– stripes: 59 cm
*9.4 (w) x 7.5 (h) x 2.3 (d) inches - stripes: 23.2 inches*
It´s not a big bag, but it fits well my everyday stuff (wallet, make up, small diary, mobile phone, keys, etc) and avoid me for carring all my crap around the town  Wink

I tried today. It didn't look like the one in the original post, though. For one thing, the size was a bit too small for me. For another, the bag(my bag) looks really awkward. The fabric I put for lining was a thick grey, felt-like fabric. The toughness of that fabric might have made the bag look awkward, me thinks. But the sizes you have given for the bag (28 cm x 26 cm) are a bit too small for me.
