Have you finished making the dress yet?  I'm super anxious to see how your version turned out!  Grin

I can tell you, Fall is composed of

1 part dead fish smell
1 part wet leaves
1 part arctic chilled air (not winter chilled variety)
2 parts crunchy walking
a pinch very cold rain
some apples you picked yourself
a few very still moments
a good deal of inner reflection

How about go to a dollar store and buy those cheap inflatable beach balls?  That way, you can remove them if necessary but cover them with a pouch of fabric...

Too cool!

Just incase nothing else worked, try using that soft green foam and painted fabric. You can mold the foam to your liking and then cover with the fabric.

Good luck.

I ended up filling most of the bubbles/pillows with tulle.  On some of the fabrics I also used some spray starch to help keep the shape.
