Okay, so I started with these plain, boring, tan sandals I found in the 'get rid of' box in the basement:

What I did with them is: I first cut off the strap part, cut a cover for them out of a shiny silky pink material, sewed that to the strap. The hard part then, was re-attaching the straps to the sandals, which I hand-sewed on with stitches that looked like little X's along the sides. After that came the fun part: going crazy with black, white, and metallic pink paint. Here's my finished result:
