I thought I'd start this thread to help out.... well, people like me, so here it is

I live in Lithgow and let me tell you that being a spontaneous crafting person, who sees something and wants to make it then and there is terrible!
There is hardly any crafting supplies here! and what is here is way over priced! I have to go to either Bathurst (40min drive) or Penrith (bit over an hour) to get my supplies. I can't afford the fuel to do this all the time!

So I have taken in the "order online" bug and I must say that this little bug really is fast becoming a very good friend! Freight is cheaper than fuel! You get surprises in the mail, well you should know what you're getting but it's still exciting! The only drawback is you have to wait  Sad

Anyway I thought we could all get together and help the "crafting Isolated" people by telling each other where we buy our crafting supplies from online.

I do beadwork so here's the places I've ordered from and had no trouble....

http://www.ozbeads.com/
Based in Queensland, reasonable prices, beads & findings. This place is growing all the time! If you pay by credit card you get your stuff a few days later.

http://www.beadhouse.com.au/
Based in Alexandria, really great prices, beads, findings, charms, pewter castings......... it goes on. pay by credit card you get your stuff a few days later.

http://www.beadneeds.com.au/
Based in Melbourne, large range of beads and findings. pay by credit card you get your stuff a few days later.

Share your online shops with us and help us less advantaged craftsters!  Grin

THANK YOU! I was getting kinda frustrated trying to find a site that sold findings and beeds for resonable prices and almost on the verge of *gasp* buying a pair of earrings from Claires. This is great!

I admit, even though I live in a city centre, I love mail ordering things purely because of the suprise-in-the-mail factor  Grin

Some other links that you guys may like to try:

www.origami.com.au
These guys do origami paper and books. Some of the paper is really pretty^^

www.thethreadstudio .com
Textile stuff, hand dyed-threads of different colours and fibers, pieces of silk, strange stabilisers and books on textile art. They apparently also do online workshops. I just bought some threads and fabric from them recently at Perth's craft fair and they are so yummy!

Do people buy yarn online? I recently went shopping at http://www.xotikyarns.com.au and while they're extremely friendly and great to pick up needles from, they didn't have a very wide selection of yarn. I was looking for some that they sell in the US, but honestly, with the cost of shipping from the US, I may as well buy whatever I was going to knit. Shocked

If anyone knows where to get Unger Utopia, Brown Sheep Nature Spun Worsted, or Plymouth Encore Worsted yarn in Australia I'd be extremely grateful. Wink

I've often looked for yarn places online, but the fact is there isn't a lot of choice.  I like www.elann.com, which even though it is based in America, is extremely cheap even after currency conversion.  Filatura di Crosa is nice and cheap there, AND they stock patterns for it, unlike most Aussie stores.

Thanks jellibabi! Since I last posted, I actually found a few Aussie shops online through people's knitting blogs... so for anyone who's interested:

www.woolshop.com.au
www.thewoolshack.co m.au
www.woolbaa.com.au
www.needlenook.com. au
www.threadsandmore. com.au

I've also found www.needleworx.com. au for all kinds of needle-type craft goods. Enjoy!

I have bought from the wool shack at the owner was really lovely...

Also www.daisychainscrap books.com is in Nambour (they sometimes have free shipping) and have good range of paper.

I use armywife1999 on ebay for beads and look in the quilting bit for fabric I like.

Edit-Hmm script is doing something wierd?
