Hello!  I have been reading and lurking on crafster for some time now.  I've decided
to come out and share with fellow knitters!

Several months ago, I made my own tabletop yarn swift out of everyday garage
items -- a drill was the only power tool!

Anyhow, I finally started a blog and have posted the instructions of my homemade
swift. I hope you make one too! My swift is portable and I've even brought it several times
at my knitting group meetings for others to use.

** EDIT/ UPDATE: **
I have a couple of different ways of doing it in a new tutorial on my blog now.  Here's the link: http://www.craftydiversions.com/patterns/homemade_yarn_swift.htm

ALSO, I just entered an Etsy/Instructables contest and thus, I put up the yarn swift in a tutorial on Instructables. Here's that link: http://www.instructables.com/id/ECNWGNBF46DD9H4/

As someone who just spent over $100 on one, I have to say this rocks, and I'm thinking of making yours so I can have 2 for my business (I've got a partner, and it'll be easier if we each have one).  Thanks so much for posting the instructions, and I like your blog.  Smiley

That's really awesome! I needed one!
I have to ask my boyfriend to make it.
He will be happy to make it, because he was the swift so far...hehe

Even though I will never make one, I appreciate your tutorial.  Very nice of you to share and your swift looks as good as any I've seen in a store!

Thanks!  If you do make one, I'd love to see it!  Also, if you find any errors or any parts of the instructions that don't make sense, feel free to let me know or ask.  Smiley

Funny! My husband was always unhappy to get tangled in my yarns and he's not handy (nor is he interested in being handy) so I ended up making my own.  If your bf is handy, it shouldn't take him but a couple of hours of work, worth the trade-off of not being the human swift. Wink

I don't know what I love more, the fact that you made an expensive yarn swift easy and affordable, or that you provided a PDF for the project. This is great! I'm not handy with wood, so I think I will beg my husband to do it.  Cheesy
