I've got until 10th April to make a handbag, just big enough to fit a phone and a purse, for a friends birthday. I'd love one that felted, but can't find a pattern and don't think I could make one up myself.

It's going to be red/black, as thats her fave colours, but haven't got the yarn yet, so I'm open to suggestions (stuff available in the UK!!)  Roll Eyes

here's a tiny felted bag in Noro Kureyon:

or what about the Sophie purse from magknits?

http://www.magknits.com/warm04/patterns/sophie.htm

you only need ~220 yds of worsted wt. woo - they used Cascade 220.

how about the little yellow one in this pattern:

there are also a lot of purse patterns on www.knittingpattern central.com. go to "bags totes and purses" in the free pattern directory.

good luck!  Grin

Knitpicks's Chunky Cable Purse is lovely, and ought to go fast since it's chunky. Plus it seems to be about the size you want. I think it would look great in stripes of red and black.

Crazy Aunt Purl (one of my favorite knitting bloggers!) posted one recently that was super quick and adorable-- she used bangle bracelets for the handles!  http://www.crazyauntpurl.com/archives/2006/03/easy_knitted_fe.php

Take a look and see what you think..
