I was thinking about starting signups for round 2 on May 10, and starting the swap on May 15.  So this swap should end on May 10 Smiley

Okay girls, I have a questions for you, as you are all fabric experts! Grin

If I want to make my own teatowels from scratch (ie, I don't want to buy teatowels and embellish, I want to buy the base fabric and then embellish), what sort of fabric would I need to buy? I guess it would have to be quite thick and absorbent, I know there are some teatowels which are similar to shower type towels (not what I'm looking for) but there are also ones which use a sort of thick, lineny(?) more open weave, textured fabric - what on earth is it?

If anyone has any fabric type names or even a link that would be great! Smiley I found a place online that sells heavyweight linen on sale but I have no idea if that is the kind of fabric I am looking for...

If anyone knows what on earth I am talking about let me know Tongue I will love you forever! Wink

Hi Meshell!
In Italy, teatowels (dishcloths?) are made of cotton or traditionally linen, even though, in my opinion, linen takes a lot longer to dry, so even though it's prettier I wouldn't use it.
If you buy online you risk buying a type of linen (or cotton) which is too stiff, and will not be comfortable to use.
I'll get back to you as soon as I find out more.. now I really have to go.. duty call.. sorry  Tongue

When I was looking for fabric to line my calendar bags with, my mom recommended Huck Towelling. It's perfect for what you're looking for (not so perfect for my use)your projects. It's woven at about 15" wide, with or without side striping. I'm not having any luck finding it for sale on the online fabric sites, but I *know* that all the local fabric stores around here carry it. Perhaps your town will be similar?
