Wow. Those graphics are great. What an excellent idea. Why have just a plain mirror when you can have a retro-monster-themed mirror! Yay!

They sell mirrors like that at Ikea for ubercheap -- like $2.79.

Its a frame around a mirror (I blocked out the mirror to avoid glare for the photo) which I bought at IKEA for a dollar fifty or so. I collaged and decoupaged retro monster images all over it for a kitschtastic visual experience. I got the monster poster images from comic books and from a book in a series put out by Sothebys where they show old movie posters. The book ios pretty cheap - 5 bucks.
I work as an occupational therapist at a mental hospital so Im trying to kick up the funky level of the crafts we offer.

first, great job katie  

second, maybe a stupid side note..but it just occured to me a couple days ago that u dont need to use originals for decopauging things... if u check out the local library, u can find some great stuff.. i personally found some sci fi books with a lot of images like the ones on the mirror here... u could really find anything u wanted...
and then just take it to the local copy shop and make some copies for pretty cheap... thats all

Great idea, thewalrusisme!  I love libraries and learning how to utilize them more.  I even think it would be cool to copy images there in b/w (cheaper, too, and your $$ goes to the library) and use those.  Over xeroxed stuff has a certain charm, as does b/w.  

You could also them paint a wash over the whole thing, so you'd have a mirror border in blue & black, or red & black, or whatever... that would make it blend in a little and be a bit less wild.

can you explain the paint wash? I dont understand but it sounds brilliant. libraries are cool! so cool im considering being a librarian. librarians are the new pirates. dontchaknow.
