so i'll start by saying that i did not invent this idea i saw it on a canadian decorating show (home to go) and i decided that not only was it the easiest thing in the world to do..but it would also make the disorganized clutter of the bookshelf disappear..yay! its actually not that disorganised just so many colours of books and dvd's and such make it look visually cluttered Tongue .. also wanted to hide the bookshelf cause its not fun to look at from the couch which is directly across the apartment from it. (a good 10 ft. Tongue can you tell its a small place?)

its a dowel with two drawer knobs screwed on either end. and i used eye hooks to hold the dowel on (they said cuphooks but when i went to home depot they didn't have silver so eyehooks it is) and you just make a rod pocket on the top of the fabric. (this piece was a remnant that i couldn't pass up. but white would make a really bad purse as far as dirt is concerned

note the clutter around the bookshelf...hehe thats my next task.its very hard to be crafty and organized, when i put everything away i just need to get it all out again Undecided

the bookshelf is the standard ikea variety. i think its called billy. mine's silver.

k i'm done with the novel..here's the pic
Edit: better pics.

Nice job-I love that fabric. What a good idea-books are always laying everywhere on my shelves, now I can do this and I won't have to buy another bookshelf to make things look neater!

it was a pretty cheap project. the dowel was a buck and the handles were about that each. and then the hooks i think were 2 dollars. and the remnant was about 2 as well. also really fast to make. gonna take some better pics and repost so people can see better Smiley

good idea, I have an open vanity in my batroom that needs this treatment, I know all about clutter I have to sew in a closet, my children gave up using the kitchen table yrs ago, because I always have something I'm cutting out on it.

From the book Godless:

Just Al: I know that God is real. I feel his presence in my heart
Me: What does it feel like?
Just Al: It's hard to describe Jason. It feels good.
Me: Oh. I thought maybe it was like heartburn or something.
