TA DAA!!  Let me tell you, this sucker was a long time in the making.  I'm so proud though!  I've never really made up my own pattern before, so I had to frog it like fifty million times.  I've also never actually completed a hat before. w00t.  Sorry the pictures are a little blurry, it's hard to take your own picture in the mirror with one arm in a sling.

As you can see, the gague on this one is a LOT bigger than the real woolhat... I think the button part is bigger too, it's just all a little bit exaggerated.  I like it.  <3

I really don't know, I just kind of made it up as I went along.  I used a size 13 16-inch round bamboo needle (my sexiest needle, by far.) and cast on... I dunno, I think it was 60 stitches.  I had to keep frogging it because it was too big, but I think 60 was the final count.  Then I just knit 1x1 rib till it looked long enough with the brim rolled up, then I would k3tog (to keep the ribbing right) for a couple rows, then I knit regular 1x1 for another inch or two, then I ran the tail of the yarn through the loops and pulled it shut.  Then I knit the part for the buttons, in stockinette, then I made a really, really dense pom-pom.  I totally stink at writing patterns, especially because I wasn't writing it down as I went... sorry!

Hey, hey... That looks awesome!  I love that you went for the buttons!  I've made one lately (that I wear all the time... it's starting to smell a little funky, actually), but I went for the plain green, without the buttons.  But this one is awesome.  Good job!   Grin
