since i recently got a digital camera i have been super excited about posting some of my projects on here..

when i moved out into my own place a few years ago, one of the things i took with me from my parents' was this old table of my grandmas. its pretty plain and boring. so i decided to spruce it up by mod-podge-ing a bunch of cool pictures on it. it was accomplished by me and my roommate over the course of several months. we'd just work on it whenever we felt like it. (and in the meantime the table served as our dining table too! Smiley )

anyway, here it is:

That's so cute! What kind of pictures did you use? Like from magazines or photos?

i used pictures from magazines.

i just used mod-podge to glue the pictures to the table, and a bit of blue glitter (which i dont think you can see in the photo) and then put several layers onto to 'seal' it. occasionally something (particularly if its hot) might stick to the table and tear it a little bit so mod-podge may not be the best sealant in the world. does anyone have a better suggestion?

How did you do this with out the paper wrinkling?  I always have the problem that no matter how small a piece of paper I use, it always wrinkles when I put mod-podge on top of it.

I appreciate the help!

terralynn: there are actually some wrinkles, but really minor ones, you cant really see them in the picture. i basically just try to smooth out any wrinkles as i go along. the modpodge takes a moment to dry, so you have time to lift it back up and smooth it out. do you just put the modpodge on top, or underneath too? i glue it down (put the modpodge on the back) and after i am done, put another layer on top. maybe that helps?

A great way to prevent wrinkling is to soak the paper for a few minutes before applying it to the surface, then use your wet fingers to gently smooth out any wrinkles.  Then when it's dry, add another layer of modge podge.,

Soak in water while you put some modge podge on the surface.  Then when you lay it on top of the sticky surface, it won't soak up any of the modge podge since its already wet, and it won't wrinkle.  Then, when it's dry, put another coat of modge podge to really seal it in.
