Knitted Tubey can be seen here: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter05/PATTtubey.htm

I think we can do the same in the world of hookers.  We have this pattern http://www.crochet-clothes.com/104Free.html to look at the shaping for the tube-top part, and then the sleeves are just a crocheted tube big enough for your arms.  We could even do a short-sleeved version by making a crocheted one skein wonder shrug like so : http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=35101.0, only with hdc instead of the lovers knot stitch.

So.... is anyone with me?  I'm gonna be going through my stash this morning to find some colours that don't clash hideously....

yes, I will crochet a tubey with you.  Grin the neckline is even the perfect shape for my big gazumbas.  I've only made hats, but I'm sure I can do a shaped tube or three.  It might take a bit to start since I promised hats to a whole bunch of babies and I'm making two mother's day presents too.

I'm going to start on the sleeves first, at the wrist.  Do you think this is best?  And what's the best stitch for this (my repertiore includes sc hdc and dc)?

yay for tubeys!

I'm going to be doing it in hdc, in the back loop, as I find this is the fastest for me.  Going through my stash I realized that I only have very hideous yarn that I wouldn't ever wear, so tomorrow I'm going to go to Zellers and buy one of those HUGE economy balls of yarn in a heather grey colour.

I think I'm going to start on the body first, but only because I haven't made up my mind on the sleeve length yet.... although I'll probably go for 3/4 length...

I had seen this pattern and really wanted to attempt the crochet version, but didn't really know where to start.  Doesn't seem too tricky if it's just two tubes...as soon as I find some yarn, I'm in!

hdc with the ribbing to the right side, right?

and 3/4 sleeve sounds better than full length, you're right.  It's going to get hot here soon and I won't be able to wear it.  I think I'll have to get some sport weight for this.

This is so funny. I already started one, and then I found this post. I am doing mine in 3/4 sleeve. It will be mainly in black with red "ribbing on the arms and bottom and around the neck. I have most of the "ribbing" already done. I was hoping to start the body soon. I'm using caron simply soft, since I wasn't sure how well it would turn out, I've never made a full size sweater (only kids') and I'm not sure if I'll even wear it since I'm a big girl, and I'm not sure how flattering this will be, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway. I can't wait to see everyone's attempts.

I finished the tube top part and are now starting on the sleeves.  I don't read knitting patterns though...so could someone tell me is there any special tricks involved?  I'm not quite sure how to avoid bunching around the armpits once i connect it to the shirt.  Right now I'm making a long rectangle that I will fold in half and stitch up a little one either end to make two tubes and leave the center open...does that sound right?
