all rity, so i have a friend's birthday that is coming up, and i use the phrase you rock my socks wayyyyy too often.. so I thought I would give her some socks to rock. But ordinary socks would do no good.. so what better to do than waste time and make a sock monkey =D??

So I suggest we have a sock monkey craftalong. They're easy, and they can be personalized easily as well. I used a great tutorial in Super Crafty : Over 75 Amazing How-to Projects by Susan Beal, Torie Nguyen, Rachel O'Rourke, Cathy Pitters.
but there are also many other ones online which are basically all the same:

to start things off.. here's my sock monkey that looks like a cow.. and the other one that's just.. weird??

You know, I have a couple baby gifts to make...and what better than a cuddly sock monkey?  I've never made one before, but that last tutorial makes it look pretty simple.  Pluse, as an added bonus, my husband calls me monkey - in a loving way, of course - ie:  when I'm tired, I'm snooze monkey.  When I'm bitchy I'm crank-monkey.  When I'm lazy, I'm sloth monkey.  So...maybe sock monkeys for the babies AND for my hubby:)   When do we start?Smiley

I'm in.  I already have a pair of socks picked out, now I just have to wrestle with getting my old 1970s Singer threaded!   Smiley  That is always the 'funnest' part of my projects!

hey i always wanted to master making a sock monkey. i just mastered making pantas so i am up for the challenge!! new craft a month lol.
i have a question, can you use baby jumpsuits instead of socks, i have HEAPS of these and its such a shame to not recyle them. Some are even ribbed like sock material.
I must make a sock one first, make a template from the parts and than give it a try.
I will be back with the first jumpsuit monkey!!
lol
i am silly. Tongue
