First time posting!

Figured Id show off some things Ive been working on over the past while:

First up, my first purse. Last summer we were in Fredericton, and I saw some corduroy purses with colourful appliqus on them. I coveted highly. Alas, I just couldnt bring myself to buy one at the time, and for months have been kicking myself for that decision. So finally made up my mind during reading week to make one anyways.

Dark green corduroy and the most fabulous orange cotton print. The strap is in both fabrics, but I wish I had interfaced it a bit too floppy for daily use, I find.

All my usual items. The size of the purse was decided based on my journal (the coilbound book in there)

With everything dumped out.

With that I got bit by the bag making bug ended up visiting a thrift store and falling in love with some vintage towels. Made them up this weekend:

And this one Im keeping, I love it so much.

Theyre both lined with a side zipper pocket.

Ta Da!

(edited because months makes much more sense than month.)

Great bags. I would have never thought to use towels. Now I have another reason to go to the thrift store  Grin

Thanks!

The flowers just look perfect. *laughs* I didn't fasten them down by anything other than stitching, so I fully expect them to come up and off far too soon for my liking (they've started fraying in some spots). But as with anything, it's a learning experience, eh?

I wish I could remember where I saw vintage calendar towels used in sewing, that's where I got the initial idea from. They were used as an accent, but when faced with a poem about "ginful sinful rum soaked men" I had to use the entire towel. Smiley
