wow, i've never seen such an apparent love of jethro tull.

I wish I had thought of that before ditching my head-damaged 8 tracks.

heh heh... Yes, I do enjoy the music of Jethro Tull.  The cassettes being colorful contributed the most to their selection as part of the lamp base.   There were lots of black 8-tracks to choose from but they wouldn't have been as much fun to use.

Carol, your lamp is absolutely wonderful.  The shade and the braid are just the right touch.  The half-inserted tape adds great interest.  Also being able to pick out artists that you like along with some neat 70's colors just piles on the goodness.  As your loving Mama and as a fellow lover of crafts + music, I'm giving it a "This Rocks!" vote.

By the way, while I'm writing this reply, Elton John is playing in my brain's music port ... "I remember when rock was young.  Me and Susie had so much fun...."  lol  Isn't that just perfect!  Is Susie a Craftster?  If so, she'll have a fit for one.

This lamp is such a fantastic idea.  There are so many possibilities for certain themes (artist, theme, genre, etc.) and there are probably going to be lots of other folks making one for themselves.  You will likely be besieged by requests for a tutorial.  So there you are ... "How to make a lamp" by Fidget!  I love it.

Well done, darling.

Love it - all my old 8-tracks got trashed when my then 2 year old son found them and pulled the tape out of them - he had loads of fun that day  Tongue  When I found him (his father was suppose to be watching him) he was sitting in a pile of tape just happy as all get out.

good use for old stuff <G>

stellaandjim, aww, thanks, Mama!   Kiss

greengirl216, thanks!  Isn't it great when a half-baked notion (which this was when I started it) all comes together right?  Grin

goatgoddess, the story about your son made me chuckle and smile.  Once upon a time, didn't we all have fun trashing something we weren't supposed to get into?  Wink

TheDishclothQueen, you'll be the first one I contact if this lamp ever needs another home.  Smiley

junquette, thanks!

*now fervently praying that Fidget learns some horrible fact about Jethro Tull that makes her hate them so I can have that lamp*
