Double Sided Stockinette Stitch Tutorial

PLUS, you don't have to worry so much about your ends!  Falling off, that is.  My son always grabs my needles if I set them aside, and yanks the straight ones right out!  But the circulars stay put!  I agree with RedThread.

Yeah, I actuallly enjoy knitting on dpns, but not circular needles.  I think it's because I first knit in the round with dpns, so they were "imprinted" on me or something.  Go with the familiar, you know?  Anyways, I found some great yarn on sale and I think this might be the way to use it.  Thanks for posting the tute!

Do you get "ladders" at the sides of your tube using this method? that's my only gripe with DPNs, is the ladders I think this would be a neat sockmaking technique, because you could stick point protectors on two of your DPNs and just knit 'em this way, if you didn't have them all on you for some reason.

Ok guys, I've read through this thread and I'm still confused! I'm a moderately experienced knitter, I can knit with dpn and on circulars etc etc.

So...is there a reason to use this method except when making small tubes (like for gloves)?

I'm making my bazillionth I-pod Mini cozy and I want to do a Fair Isle pattern using three colors (which I can do on bigger projects). This seems like a situation where the double sided stockinette could come in handy, but it seems a little too complicated for Fair Isle. Is it worth trying?

Oh my god, this is amazing stockinette scarves! yess!

Has anyone figured out how to decrease? it'd be really cool to make mittens or gloves like this.
