I'm getting ready for a craft fair in November, and this is the first of a couple diaper bags I plan to do for it.  It's my design...what I call the Mod Diaper Bag.  Basically just a large jordy style bag with a large, angled flap for closure.  It has been pretty popular among my friends.
Here's a full length photo...oh yeah, it's a girl bag.  Had that leafy pink fabric lying around and thought it would make a cute diaper bag.

I like to put pockets all around in a diaper bag.  This one has 4 slide pockets and 2 bottle pockets.

What do you think?  My baby is 12 months old and I kinda wanna make another one for myself!

I love bags like this and yours is gorgeous! Such tiny hems on the pockets. Did you use a hemmer foot? I tried and never quite got the hang of one of those. You are sure to be a big hit at the craft fair.

Cute!

Just a suggestion:  maybe make some without bottle pockets for breastfeeding moms.  And some with larger diaper pockets for cloth diapering moms.   I NEVER found a diaper bag that worked for me b/c all of them had a couple pockets that were useless for me (b/c I didnt have any bottles, and cloth diapers are bulky for regular sized diaper pockets).

Another feature that would be awesome is a thing to attach keys to, so they dont end up at the bottom of the bag!  I prefered to carry one bag for everything vs a diaper bag AND a purse.

You are right. Smiley I am a breastfeeding mom, but I still put the bottle pockets in because eventually, there will be sippy cups!!  (and, my third child weaned herself at 8 months so I had to move to bottles/sippy cups)  Also, the keyfobs are great too...usually I add them when I have the hardware on hand...and in this case, I simply forgot!  But thanks for the tip there...it seems more and more people prefer to have them in, so I should make sure I get em in there!

Here's my thoughts.  I don't like the look of elastic pockets because they make the bag LOOK like a diaper bag, so I stay Faaaaaaaaaaaaar Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar away from them!  I have put outside slide pockets on in the past...but those don't seem to have been used in the bags I have made for people so I have omitted them.  Would you add a seperate cell phone pocket?  Any other items you would add?

I never used sippy cups either!  My son nursed until he was 2.5yrs or drank from a cup.  Aren't sippys wider and shorter than bottles?

I agree, those elastic pockets scream "diaper bag" and are annoying anyway (and more work to sew)

A cell phone pocket, a key holder thing and maybe a zip pocket for a wallet.... ohhh and maybe a camera pocket?  I always have my camera with me

The way I do the pockets on my diaper bags make it so that you really can put whatever you want in them.  I pleat the bottoms of the pockets on the end of either side of the bag (bottle pockets) to add a little extra space at the bottom of the pocket for round items such as bottles/sippy cups/whatever.  BUT they would work just as well for bulky fabric diapers.  They do NOT have elastic at the top, so as a mom, you aren't tied into putting bottles into these pockets.  I think it'd be fun to do a custom diaper bag for a nursing mom who uses fabric diapers on her babies.  It would definitely take me out of the 'norm' for diaper bag crafting!  Thanks for all your thoughts Smiley
