Hello Craftsters!

Excuse the poor photos but this is my homemade version of a cake stand.

Materials needed:

10 inch glass plate
glass sundae dish
E6000 adhesive
glass paint

I painted polka dots on the underside (the side you don't eat off) and then glued it to the top of an inverted sundae dish.  Viola!  A cake pedestal for mere pennies!  I got the idea from a Better Homes & Garden's magazine article about 3 tiered serving dishes.

Just noticed how dark these pics are...no more photo sessions in the middle of the night!

thanks!
Katie

I would have never thought to do that, its such a good idea instead of having those cakes in those ugly plastic things they put them in at the store.  It looks great!!

Really cute.  I've been thinking of doing one with a vinyl record, but was afraid that it wasn't foodsafe.  Now I think I'll glue it to the bottom of a glass plate!

I love this idea!  I saw it in a issue of Budget Living too.  You can use lots of different things as bases, like candle holders, mugs, vases, etc.  Here's a version I did with a ceramic mug and plate from the thrift store for a different look.  I did another one with a plate and candle holder from the dollar store.
