Alright, I've been crocheting along here, and am LOVING making the knot ugly shrug. However, I'm on the second part of First Front (if last row ends at side edge)

It tells me to fasten off (even though the last directions before that already told me to fasten off) sk first 21 ch-1 spaces, rejoin yarn in next dc etc.

K, here's my stupid question... where am I starting from? If I'm looking at the diagram in the book, I am say, on the far left side, right by the 91/2 inches mark. To skip 21 spaces seems to take me around the corner, and into the middle of the inside left front. So I end up building this weird little attatched rectangle that doesn't go anywhere.

Aarrrghhh. I know this is probably the most uncomplicated, easy thing in the entire world! That's what killing me! Wink

Any help is appreciated. Dang I thought I knew what i was doing until I hit this!

Okay, I think I see where you're at here...you're still doing great, you're just trying to be an overachiever Wink. The "second part of the first front" that you're referring to is just alternate directions to complete the first part not an addition to it. Just ignore that portion, and go to the part of the directions that start the second front at the end of the other sleeve.

I'm sure you'll have a beautiful new shrug to show off soon. Smiley

I was gonna start this project last night! But I didn't have the right hook... So anyhow it's funny you mention it. Well I guess that is because I almost always have problems with patterns. I start it, follow all directions, then something will come up that no matter how I look at it, I cannot make sense of it!
If I had my book I could look (because I am sure I would have the same problem too.. so now I would know the answer, I will have to bookmark this page) but I probably couldn't help anyway...so sorry.
I am using you...hehe not really. I just feel bad that I couldn't help and instead am learning from this question. That's not so bad is it? Anyhow.
I will try to make it now...after I am done with the purse, so cute.
