OK!  After I finish this little bit of birthday knitting I have left, I have the ultimate in super duper make-DH-something-he-will-adore plan.  I've never knitted anything for him, mostly because he's a picky bastard and I don't want to put a ton of time into something he wouldnt' wear.

Well, the brainstorm has struck.  I would really like to knit up a collared, zip-up cardi to look like the soccer zippies soccer fans are so fond of.  I'm trying to find a pattern, but without much luck.

Would it work if I used this http://www.helloyarn.com/cyclingaran.htm minus the cabling?  Can I just do stockinette and acheive the same size/shape?  The shape of that sweater is precisely what I am looking for.

The jacket for DH would be black with this on the back http://www.bjk.com/ .  It's his fav soccer club (DH is from Turkey).

Ambitious? Yes.  A way to finally get DH to pick up his dirty socks?  Perhaps.

Suggestions for other zip-up cardis would be greatly appreciated!

The gallery shows this knit for both men and women and it looks great no matter what gender. Hope that's helpful!

There is a men's zip up ribbed cardi in Last Minute Knitted Gifts.  It looks good, simple and comfy.

if you can't be a good example then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.
