Hi, this is my very first post here. I have to say...this is an awesome group of crafters and I am glad I stumbled upon this place.

Here are my Kook-Aid Jammer coin purses, I hope you like them.

Here is a tute for the purses.

K, start with two empty, clean, and dry juice bags. I have been collecting these for months now so I have quite a few. If you don't have any just go buy a package and empty the contents by slitting the bottom and emptying into a pitcher and saving the drink for you. For those who have kids that have drunk them up you will need to slit very carefully the bottom of the bag and rinse with water and air dry or use a paper towel if you can't wait to get started.Decide which color you want for the outside and for the inside of your coin purse.

Now stitch down just the very top of the color bag you want as the main color. I used a zig-zag stitch and white thread. These bags are not forgiving so you can't re-do these, once stitched there is no ripping out seams and re-sewing. Fold down the other bag and stitch across the top.Place the smaller one wrong sides together and stitch around sides and bottom.

I used sticky back velcro for the closure. That's it, your finished. Hopefully I didn't leave anything out but if you have questions let me know.

furgodwuerlivn2002......I love Audrey Hepburn too. I almost used my Audrey avatar instead of CatKong. When I get around to it...the theme for my craft room will be Breakfast at Tiffanys. I have already bought the Tiffany colored paint color matched from my gift box.  Smiley

I don't like them...I LOVE THEM...I wish Tang made Kool Jammer style packets, but I'm kind of old school when it comes to my psuedo-juice beverage containers converted into coin purses.

Hahaha this inspired me... I made a wallet out of a J-Max pouch. It ended up with a zipper part for coins and a pocket for bills and such... if I ever take a picture, I'll post it.

All these jammer purses and tang pouch bags are really inspiring, I'm going to have to go and buy lots of boxes. Your little purse is so cute and the tutorial's easy to follow.  Smiley

I have seen a Kool-Aid Jammer HANDBAG, like last week.  I bugged the girl about it (I could tell that she didn't want me to know anything), but she EVENTUALLY told me that she bought it at a bazaar.

Those are "kool".  Let's put our heads together for a handbag, gals!

hey! cool!   these look a lot like Basura Bags!  they're made by a womens' cooperative in the Phillipines out of juice packets that literally cover landfills there.  beware of knockoffs that don't support the co-op!

Lique,

Love your coin purse.  Do you use a special needle for the sewing machine to make them or just a regular needle?

Thanks!

WOW. that is awesome. i have a purse like a basura bag but its made out of coke cans. i got it at this little shop in new yor-ak called "It's a mod world" its so cute. ok but back to the coinpurses! those would make like REALLY cute stocking stuffers for x-mas (and if you're not christan, sorry if i offended you) or like even if you attached them to the card for on like a wrapped gift for any occasion. hmm...im gonna try to figure out a way to make a bag out of them because it'd be cute AND cheap  Grin. If nayone who trys this w/o a sewingmichane please tell me how it turned out. i want to make one but i dont want to buy the drinks if i cant end up making them! alright thanx

Those pouches remind me of "portable ashtrays" which are basically just little plastic pouches lined with aluminum. I wonder if it would work with the juice pouches, without melting. It's good for those few smokers who care about not turning beaches and sidewalks into giant ashtrays.

i thought this project was pretty cool when i first saw it a couple of days ago and was thinking it would be cool to see a purse made from those kool-aid things. then i went to our county fair yesterday and was looking at the arts and crafts winner stuff. somebody had made a kool-aid jammers purse. it was kinda weird but it was really cool.

p.s., robOt~speEd, who is that a picture of?

These coin purses are cute.  And DragonMuse, my goodness!  I support anything that is reuse/recycle - but what you said takes that even further!
I don't smoke, but a lot of my friends do.  Thanks for the idea.  Now I can sew gifts for my smoker friends!

I am hoping on the kindness of your heart, you can give me the instructions on how I can make MY first post. Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you asking how to start you own topic?
At the main page, choose which topic you want your project under (miscellaneous, clothing, stenciling, etc).
Once you click to get into that catagory - where it shows you how many pages of topics there are on that specific subject, there should also be some tab bars that say, "mark as read, notify, new topic."

Click on "new topic"

Create your own subject, and type in the box whatever your project is.  You can add photos if you want.
(That is more detailed, I'm not going into it here).  Choose "preview" to make sure everything is spelled right and correct.
Then choose "post."

Hope that's what you were asking directions for!  If not, ask again.  Someone will help you out.

I will try to explain it the best way that I can. First slit the bottom of your juice pouches and rinse out with warm soapy water. You can let dry overnight or use a paper towel and dry them by hand. Now, take 2 pouches and sew them together side by side overlapping the edges.  Do that again with 2 more pouches. Now, take 1 by itself and place it backside to backside of one of the 2 panels and stitch up the side starting from the top going down leaving about a 1/2 inch un-sewn at the bottom. This should now look like a corner, not overlapped like the 2 that is a panel for the front and back of the purse. Now connect the rest of them together adding another single side panel. You now have 6 pouches sewn together, 2 in front, 2 in back and 1 on each side. Now, you will have to measure carefully and get 2 more pouches and figure out how wide your bottom is now that you have the top sewn. Make sure to leave enough to sew and don't just set the purse on the pouch and cut that way, the bottom will be sewn like the corners so  you will need a tad extra. Once you have cut the 2 pouches almost in half but to equal the bottom width sew them together in the middle overlapping them but make sure you over lap enough but have enought to go to the ends for sewing to the purse.  Now, this is the tricky part. Start with a long side and place bad side to bad side and make flat and sew all around the purse. It will sorta pucker out b/c you are sewing on it making it flat. But, remember when I said not to go all the way down the sides when sewing, this allows for  you to be able to fold up the bottom of the pouches to sew onto the bottom panel. Now for handles I went to Walmart and bought nylon belt type material in the fabric dept. if they are out, you can go to the automotive dept and buy a strapping belt made of the same stuff and I think it is actually cheaper too. Now, I duct taped it down on the inside of the purse once I figured out the length and then stitched it down at the top. I made a lining for mine that hid the duct tape and all. But there is no way I can explain how I did that, way to complicated.  I hope I did not lose  you anywhere and that helps you.  Oh also, on the bottom I sewed them lengthwise sewing them overlapped bottom to bottom instead sewing them side by side.

hope that helps

I used duct tape for mine. Where she said to sew, I stapled and made sure to cover it with tape. I don't want anyone getting hurt. Here's how they turned out:

Dear Lique,

I just found your site through the HGTV message board.  I would love to make one of the Kool aid jammer coin purses, but I need visuals to understand things.  The picures will not come up on on my computer.  I've double clicked on the X where the pictures are suppose to be, and also right clicked and clicked on show pictures, but nothing happens.  Everyone else seems to have brought up your pictures, why can't I?  What am I doing wrong?

 Thanks for your help,  27crafty2
