i made these for dessert for a valentine dinner party i threw this weekend, and they turned out AWESOME!  i used Alton Brown's chocolate mousse recipe from foodnetwork.com to fill the bowls.

after i blew up the balloons, i dipped the bottoms in dish water and rinsed them off, my bf was afraid the chocolate would taste like balloon.. there was no balloon taste, but i'm not sure if there would have been otherwise.  if you do rinse your balloons, just be sure they're dry before you dip them or the chocolate will sieze.

instead of painting on the chocolate, i just dipped the balloons in the melted chocolate and lined my baking sheet with parchment paper to keep them from sticking to the pan.

the hardest part is waiting for the chocolate to melt. Smiley thank you so much for this great idea!

I made two of these tonight (well technically 3...)! I just melted some chips then smoothed it onto the balloon with a spoon. I wanted one with white chocolate and oreo so I mixed the oreos in before putting it on the balloon.. BAD idea, the oreo pieces are waaay to heavy and drag the chocolate down as they slide and fall off Sad Then I went to put it in the refrigerator, I knelt down to put it on the bottom shelf when BAM! the balloon pops and white chocolate/oreo goes EVERYWHERE! I was so sad. Luckily, my next two were successful! Thanks for posting this!
