I felted/fulled a thrift store sweater, then cut it up, and then needle felted some flames on to it. Then I stitched the pieces together with some left over red wool yarn.  Grin

It's not exactly like I envisioned when I started, but I still like it well enough.

It does not match my kitchen...at all. I have some flame/ tattoo loving friends who could probably appreciate it.

Oh C-Kate  that is really pretty.  Am a bit concerned about safety as an oven mitt though.  The wisps of the needle felting and the yarn at the edges, could catch fire around a very hot oven or open flame burner.  It might be wise to full them again to get the yarn and the roving to shink and form a harder crust/surface - or to designate them as microwave or low heat oven mitts.

Still, a lovely specimen of needle felting into a base fabric.  Itsn't it great to punch into fulled sweater knit?

I agree GraceO. I was thinking it may be a purely decorative oven mitt. Or I may toss it into the washer and see what happens. I haven't decided yet. I hadn't thought about microwave only. That's a good idea. The last thing I want is a flaming oven mitt that really is flaming!  Grin

Very cool design.  Definately agree that real flames would probably detract...

Oh don't worry, I take criticism pretty well, especially if it's for my own good.  Grin It's good to have people who want to prevent your hands from combusting. I was originally going to make regular ole mittens, but then I cut it out a little too big. Rather than cut it smaller I figured, lets see what a sweater oven mitt looks like.
