My hosiery is bunching!

My school's annual Celebration party (of what? Us, I guess  Roll Eyes)is coming up and this year the carpentry kids are making stools and the visual arts kids (that's me Wink) are painting them to be sold to party attendees. We were just given plain, ready-to-paint stools and creative freedom. Here's what I came up with:

I started by painting the whole thing with a glossy latex paint, then spraypainting it with bits of purple, pink, powder blue, and white, to give it some celestial dimension. Then I copied a constellation map onto the seat of the stool with white paint pen and added some interesting space facts I found on the Internet. Basically, I wanted to make something that was not only neat-looking, but kind of practical and a good conversation starter.

So what do you guys think Smiley?

That stool should be put on a pedestal!

I'm not a furniture re-habber but this makes me want to put down my needles and buy paint-

Much acclaim

Thanks, everybody Grin! It was a lot of fun to make, and everyone at school seemed to like it Cheesy.

Yes, I dabble in nerdity, every now and than Wink. I actually had plans for a series of these stools. I thought it would be cool to have a human cell themed one (along with a deatailed diagram) or a Divitnation themed one (with palmistry and phrenology information on the seat).

This is extremely beautiful-- you did nice job on it!  I have been thinking about constellations lately and wanting to do something with them art-wise-- this stool is very inspiring!

Thanks Grin! The stool sold at auction last night, but I forgot to see for how much Roll Eyes.

This is fabulous - you will have to tell us how it does (I assume they are auctioned off).

I do a lot of decoupage and collaging and I have a calendar with images from the hubble and was just thinnking last night when I couldn't sleep that I need to come up with something for that...and you have definitely inspired me...
