Yay!  Congratulations on your new job, ilovepaper!  I can't wait to see your tote.

Yes, I am out of control with this bag, and it's not like I can afford all this yarn!  Help!  I guess a yarn addiction is more expensive than a crack addiction, but at least ya have something nice in the end!

How did you get the bottom so square?  Mine all seem kinda roundy at the bottom.

Thanks for the compliment!  It was round-bottomed when I knitted it, but it got so felted that the garter stitch fuzzed out completely.  I shaped it by jamming in a hard-back copy of Tom Wolfe's I am Charlotte Simmons, which seemed to be the perfect size.

Ok, I have a ??  When you are knitting this in the round are you knitting it inside out or not.  I think it's right side out, but I just want to be sure.  I am using Reynolds Lopi 100% wool in a teal and salmon color.  I can't wait to finish it and felt it.  Woo hoo!

Okay, I'm a newbie knitter, but I've made five and a half of these.  When I'm knitting one, the outside is facing me and I see stockinette stitch.  After you pick up the stitches all around the base, then you start knitting with the yarn you're knitting with hanging off the right needle.  (I'm right-handed.)  Did I confuse you?  Do I know what I'm talkin' 'bout?  On my first bag I started knitting in the wrong direction or inside-out.

Hmmm, the inside of my bag looks like stockinette stitch.  I guess that's ok.  I'll just flip it inside out when I am done and the St stitches will be on the outside.  As for the RIGHT TWIST stitch in the pattern, I am knitting into the second stitch, leaving it on, then knitting into the first stitch, then slipping them both off.  Is that right?  And I do this with the 2 stitches right before the marker and right after the marker.  It looks right, but I just want to be sure...

There are two pics on my blog:  www.knitkatgirl.blogspot.com

Thanks for your help!

I used Araucania wool and Noro Kureyon #138 for this one.  I also made i-cord handles.  The bag looks much better in person.  It's mainly magenta, purple and red with streaks of orange, deep purple and lime green.

I LOVE these colours!! What a beautiful bag  Tongue Wow...really great.

These bags are so addictive.

I made mine into book totes by making them longer.

Turquoise and lime tote has a very long lengthwise garter stitch strap.  It's stuffed with plastic bags and looks lumpy.  The four color tote has i-cord handles.  The colors look a little too summer-y for a knitted purse.  Frantically trying to get through my yarn stash, so I can justify buying more.  ooohsosick

Nice bags Sewer Rat..... again. lol
I think felted bags will be your downfall rather than fabric. Do you need an intervention? Keep up the good work and send any unwanted bags my way please!

Oooo, I finally finished my marsupial tote and I think I like it!

(post-felting)

(pre-felting)

The only thing is I wish the handles seemed sturdier.  Hmmm...But I am still very proud.  This my first felting project and my first knit in the round project and I think I handled it all pretty well.   Grin
