By the way! Pun Crash! There's a new crochet site that's looking for some tutorial submissions. Would you be willing to submit your tutorial?

Wooahh... Thank you Pinklightning06! I just read the requirements. Since it's not a technical pattern I don't know if they will take it, but I am definitely gonna send it to them for review. I've only been crocheting for about a month, so this really makes me feel good about myself... Again THANK YOU!

I was going to suggest that!  The tutorial was awesome.  I made a monkey for my brother's phone already, and I'm gonna get started on a cover for my mom's flip phone using Pinklightning06's tutorial (which, by the way, is very comprehensible Smiley).  It's too warm and humid to crochet or knit right now though...  irk.  I hate not having air conditioning.

Oh, and here's a picture of the monkey cover I made if you care to have a look:

(It has a tail!  Whee!  Oo oo!)

So turn
Up the corners of your lips
Part them and feel my finger tips
Trace the moment, fall forever
Defense is paper thin
Just one touch and I'd be in
Too deep now to ever swim against the current
So let me slip away- Dashboard Confessional

My cell phone gets thicker at the top and slim at the bottom, and it just...wasnt working out. Ive given up.. *sigh* Maybe some other day Ill try again

Can't quite figure out how your cover works, Pinklightning---sort of attached at the top and bottom edges of the phone...?  If so, doesn't it all pooch out (that's the technical term, you know) at the back when the phone is opened?

In any event, my flip is different in that it's just the ear/audio part that flips up; the screen is part of the bottom half, the flip opens over it and when closed fits into a slight recess in the bottom half.  Thus, the flip part needs to remain free and unadorned and also be able to rest snugly in the bottom.  Here are a couple of pictures, one with the phone closed, one open (obviously the one that's open is not the same scale as the one that's closed):

With the commercially produced holder I have you slip in the bottom half, there's a thin, transparent, flexible plastic over the keypad (so you can dial, etc., without having to remove the phone), and the flip closes over that.

So I think I may only be able to have a full cozy rather than a more convenient one....

However---

PunCrush, your tutorial gave me inspiration on something else!  It was the opening for the phone's face part that was the idea I needed, though mine is a relatively completely different project.  It'll be a few days before I can have any pictures available, but if anyone's interested I'll post here when I've started a new thread for it....

I wonder if it would work to sew in some really thin, clear vinyl to cover the screen and buttons. You could poke holes for the speaker and mic.

These covers make me want to buy a really fancy phone where I could make custom "screensavers" that looked like the face of the animal.

Good idea, elysium---will take a look at the way my purchased cover is structured to see if I can adapt the design for crocheting.

Have photos back of my other project, just keep forgetting to scan them....

ok, call me dense, but I can't figure out how to crochet the part that exposes the phone face. How do you get the hole part? can anyone help?

Okee... so, instead of going around in a circle, which is what you've been doing until then, turn back and start going back and forth, until you're done with the "wall"... let's see if my crappy little drawing can explain it:

and then, you go back into loop!  Grin
