i was in my lys the other day and i saw an absolutely adorable v-neck todller's vest with little intarsia slug-bugs (vw beetles) around the bottom, and matching slug bug buttons. however, the employees have NO IDEA what pattern it is from.

i can work out the image chart on my own, but i desperately need help finding a pattern for a vest. it must be sized for a 3-year-old, button up,andv-neck. i checked all over the internet, including knitting pattern central, with no luck. i'm totally willing to buy a pattern or a book (preferably if i can get it used, and no more than $15ish)

any suggestions? my nephew needs this vest!

~amey (who wonders if you could also modify a cardigan pattern?)

there is also a pattern book by bernat that has a outfit for boys in it that has the vw bugs on it, it is very cute. i will see if i can find the name for it....it is one of the ones you can get for free by doing a survey...the link is elsewhere on the boards. let me see if i can get it for you.

sorry the pattern i was thinking of by bernat that had the bugs on it is actually a blanket and can be seen at the bottom of this page:

EUREKA! I've found exactly the type of pattern i was looking for, so i thought I'd share in case anyone in the future has my same question.

I'm going to graph out my own beetle design. Kate Winkler's original is amazing (and obviously inspiring!) but i like the cut of this other pattern better and I'll have more fun plotting out my own design. keep an eye out for my version in the finished projects forum come Christmas!

thanks again for all the help.  Kiss
