Geisha Swap (Sign up CLOSED Send out by 4/11/06)

Just because I am having problems brainstorming...

What is everything thinking about doing for this swap?  No need to reveal your deepest swapping secrets...just curious...sometimes I just need a brain jumpstart!

I have ballpark ideas, but it all depends on what our partner would like. Or a good place to start is what would you do for yourself? I have an odd process of thinking of swap ideas... I'm sure it will be easier once we're paired up.
I'm in general thinking of painting something on something else, because I have painted geisha before...

I found an interesting bag that is one length of cloth folded up origami style into a three corner bag.  Looked like it might be a good base for a patchwork (oriental style brocades) bag or an applique one.  But only if my partner *wants* a bag.

I also though of doing a miko mouse.  I have a good solid pattern for a stuffed mouse and have modified a kimono pattern to fit.  But again only if my partner wants a doll.

I'm not sure if I'd have time for an Inro` and Netsuki combination.  All my polymer clay stuff got "donated" when we moved and would need to be replaced.

A custom obi-jime could be doable though, pricey on time but not so much so on materials (as long as I don't use silk anyway, reeled silk is NOT cheap here) but it goes back to the partner thing for colors at the very least.

If I was more confident of my painting on cloth skills I'd think about a hand painted furoshiki, but a present wrapper seems silly without a present *in* it.

I usually like to get ideas swirling around before I join a swap.  It sounds silly but I like to have a vision---which is easily molded by the swap partner.

Just had problems kick-starting the swirling...I have a couple of days to get it going!

I've already got my idea, and it's been started already. *grins* I only hope my partner will like it.

If they'd like something else, though, it won't be a big deal for me to make something else, and just keep my current project. :p

There seems to be a lot of images that pop up if you type in "Geisha art" or "Japanese Geisha" at either yahoo.com image search or at Google.com's image search. I got about 25 pages on Yahoo.

I really want in but I am crazy at work and I haven't had time to get the ideas mixing, swirling, and dancing or do any pre-swap research (I am shoving lunch in and reading craftster all in 10 minutes).

Eeek...if I don't catch this round hopefully there will be another round to catch.
