I have a question, what does "reclaimed materials" refer to?  can anyone give an example?

To me, reclaimed means second hand or something that would other wise be thrown out.  I get a lot of crafting supplies from yard sales and charity thrift shops, fabric, even glue and thread.  Also it could be something out of the recycing bin, magazines, bottle caps....

ok, so does this mean I could use unused materials from a charity thrift shop or from a source where they were just destined to be landfill?

Absolutely!  Using anything that is destined for a landfill is great.

I'm already preparing for this. I put a couple of books on hold at the library to get some inspiration, but I already have one thing in mind that I want to make. Looking forward to this!

Ah, i would so totally do this as I have a few ideas, but I just signed up for the where I live swap (I'm going to do at least one recycled metrocard project Wink) and don't think I can handle two.

Here are a few ideas for the confused though:
pop tab projects (belts, etc)
that super cool CD jewelry (I've got to try it)
earrings from random things such as bottle caps, gummy bears, nuts, bolts, and other fun/junky items lying around  or destined for the trash
calculator button bracelet (use and old, broken one please Wink)

anyway, maybe we can have a round two... even though it'll be after earth day ;P

I vote yes on a round two.  Recycling is always in season!!!

tejer - what books did you get?  I have a lot of ideas but I'd love to get more!

The books I put on hold are Recycled crafts box : sock puppets, cardboard castles, bottle bugs & 37 more earth-friendly projects & activities
you can create
and Earth friendly crafts for kids : 50 awesome things to make with recycled stuff These are just ones my library happened to have. I still haven't seen them, so I don't know if they are any good.

I also sent out a WANT ad on freecycle--that's a great place to get materials otherwise destined for landfills. I already have some of the materials I need, but I'm a little short so I am staying within the parameters that way.

I am so excited about this swap! last night while falling asleep I was brainstorming more ideas of things I can make... I can't wait till partners are assigned and I learn my partners likes & dislikes!!!

tejer - thanks for the book recs.  I think they have at least one of those at my library, I'll check it out.

and here's some inspiration for everyone - art made entirely from stuff left at the city dump:
