I wasn't too sure where this should go cause there isnt a section devoted to stinky stuff...

I made these fragrant rocks using the following recipe

http://web.archive.org/web/20060715225739/http://www.craftbits.com/images/191_main_FragrantRocks.jpg

Materials:
1/2 cup of flour
1/2 cup of salt.
1/4 teaspoon of essential oil (your favorite scent).
2/3 cup of boiling water
Instructions:
Place these natural looking fragrance rocks around your house , in ash trays , in the car as a great alternative to pot pourri or incense .

Mix 1/2 cup of flour (wholemeal flour gives great texture.
1/2 cup of salt.
1/4 teaspoon of essential oil (your favorite scent).
2/3 cup of boiling water
and food coloring if wanted .

mix all the dry ingredients together then add the oil and last the hot water , add the color drop by drop ,
once cool enough to handle roll into small balls around 2-3 inch in size
or be creative and make assorted shapes.

This mixture dries hard after several days in a warm but dry area and has a large potential to be used for other great craft idea's

Man I wish I wasn't getting ready to move - I promised myself no new projects (with supplies I have to buy, that is!) until I'm in my new place. Sucks cause our house smells right now :/ But great idea, and this thread is def. bookmarked.

Wonderful idea!

Do you know if almond and vanilla extract will work?
I'm not so clear on the 'essential oil' term  Undecided

Thanks for posting this!  I'm always on the lookout for new ways to use up my beloved BPAL.   Kiss  I can definitely use these in my car.

I wonder if I can mold them around ribbon or string?  Then I could hang them from my rearview mirror.   Grin

shewantsxglamor, I doubt extract will work.  They aren't concentrated enough.  Essential oil or fragrance oil can be found in the candle- or soap-making section of your local craft store.
