I have a bunch of wooden spools sitting around waiting for a project.  I just purchased some vintage fabric and decided to make one of the spools into a pin cushion.  I cut a circle of fabric with pinking shears, used embroidery thread to make a running stitch around it then filled it with fiberfill and pulled the threads tight around it.  Make a knot and it's done!

I decorated it with a felt ball acorn and twine and some of my Sprout fimo pins.  I think it's really cute.  Now I want to make a collection of toadstools with the spools!

I love this pincushion.. I know I've got a bunch of old spools somewhere if I can find them I'm definitely going to make at least one pin cushion. Smiley

I might have that exact same fabric. Mine is an old sheet from Goodwill. Crazy. Oh, and that is a very cute pin cushion.
