So, I've been learning about felting through the felt-alongs, and I love it! This is my 2nd attempt at a little needle felted creature..Jimmy the Squirrel! I moved to Minnesota in the fall and I'd never seen a black squirrel before. There is one who lives in my street, I've taken to calling him Jimmy. Jimmy will NOT let me take his picture, so I've recreated him in felt! Cheesy

Thats really cute Batgirl.

I've never heard of a black squirrel but we have hundreds of grey ones about.

Well done.

Yay!  Batgirl joined the mix!  He's super cute.  I lived in Washington DC for two years found out that they actually have black squirrels there too.  I'm not really sure how they got there but I think it has something to do with the zoo Huh

We get a rare sighting of one here in Northern MN- about 240 miles north of batgirl.

You have captured the image so nicely.  Beautiful creatures - and always in search of acorns.  Best not let Jimmy see him though, he might take him home as his own baby.

Thats really cute! I've never seen a black or grey squirrel.  Embarrassed You did a cute job and I could totally see why you'd want to do the woodland creatures swap. Now which creature are you going to make?

Aww, thanks everyone! I'm having so much fun with felting! As for Jimmy...well, he's quire a funny little guy! Once I saw him carrying an entire apple! (a small wild apple, not a huge store bought one, but still!). I'm so intrigued by the squirrels around here, I'm sure everyone thinks I'm nuts. (hehe) They are mostly grey, whereas the ones in Indiana (where I lived before) were brown/red, so that's different, but I'd never seen a black one like Jimmy, he's so cute! (and so camera shy!). I've heard there are white ones as well, but I've not seen one yet.

That's interesting about the black squirrels...VERY cute batgirl.
The black squirrels around here are HUGE they can't even qualify as cute wee squirrels anymore-LOL!
I saw a few on a walk near my house, and they are literally the size of a small cat!  Shocked
Scared the stuffing outta me whe i first saw them- lol. I think they know they're big- so they dont really run away- they stare you down instead.  Cheesy

WOW!  Shocked  Are you sure they aren't bushy-tailed cats?? LOL. My cats look quite squirrely at times! Thanks for the compliments everyone!  Smiley  The other day I say an old glove in the street and for a second I thought it was my little buddy! Whew! I worry when I see him too near the main street!  Roll Eyes

Love the black squirrel!
I grew up in a suburb of Washington, DC  and when I was little I enjoyed feeding the squirrels. There was a baby black one that I really loved because it was different from all the rest. I had some special peanuts just for her. Another squirrel took the peanut and I tried to get it back resulting in a very minor bite. I was probably about 5 or 6.
Anyways Your squirrel just reminded me of it and made me smile!
