This is a skirt i just made a while ago out of these super hole-y jeans that i LOVED but were no longer wearable  Embarrassed ... this is my first clothing project ever...

and first of all i was wondering if i should completely pleat the bottom area or leave it that way

and second of all i was wondering if i should anything to it because it looks so plain...

suggestions would really be appreciated, and thanks for looking !!!  Smiley

i made a skirt similar to that and i pleated it all around... it ended up looking uber cute.  if you keep it that way, i would put something like lace trim or sequins around where the skirt part meets the hips.

There's too much sky and not enough blue.

that skirt is cute. I think you should leave it just the way it is. If you want a little more flair, maybe you should add a bold belt or something.

thanks!!! um by pleating it, basically undoing the bottom part and using the fabric to make pleats... but that takes a lot of work  Shocked so maybe not...!!! but maybe i'll go with renee2008's idea and do the bold belt. i never thought about it before. you all have really good ideas. & thanks slowfade (about the avatar)! lace sounds good too. hmm so indecisive.

yeah, that's what i figured.  i think it looks nice as it is, to heck with excessive pleating!

I would pleat it all the way to the bottom, but i would actually also use the holy part and sew it on top of the pleats for extra effect and to give it that worn in look

ooh i really like it! i wouldn't pleat it, think about all the ironing you'll have to do.... i like it also without any lace bits, right now it seems like a simple summer skirt but with a bit of a twist.

i agree with renee2008, if you decide to jazz it up maybe like a big sash belt thing? i dk, i'm not really making sense at all today....

I love a little tulle coming out the bottom of a skirt like that -- sewn on or a mini-crinoline peeking out...
