I have just finished my very first quilt!  I never realized how hard and time consuming it is.  Once I was about half way through...I was thinking to myself...what have I gotten myself into!!!!

I made it for my 7 month old son.

It has taken me a while to complete!  So I am extremely happy it is done!!!!

I love your quilt and your baby is very cute! I just posted my first quilt too and I definitely feel your pain. What a mother can do for love!

Wow -- what an amazing quilt -- no wonder it took so much love and time -- SO MANY NEAT THINGS ON IT!

Did you hand-paint/decorate all the ABC items?  And you added all those cool ribbon loops?  WOW WOW WOW.

Looks wonderful and I'm sure your son loves it!

Congrats!

I am embarassed to admit I have squares from a quilt I'd intended to make for my first child -- almost SIX YEARS ago, and it's still in pieces!

You're an inspiration!

Thanks Kiss

LSTinVA...don't feel embarred, you have the thought in your heart that is all that matters.  I live in Canada where we get 1 year maternity leave..so that may be why I finished it that quickly!

That is amazing!
I want to make one but I doubt I could get my 7 year old to stay on it.....

My thought was when my son is sick once he is older he can use it as a feel better quilt.  You know when you're little and you feel yucky and you really want to do things but you  body is telling you something different...I thought this would maybe keep him entertained.  It could only be wishful thinking as my son is only 7 months old and cannot even fathom a 7 year old yet!

I'm sure your son's quilt will offer him many years of entertainment.  And will offer you many years of cringing!
When my daughter was a baby I made her a satin backed flannel blanket.  It's still a comfort blankie for her but when she doesn't need comfort it's been everything from a picnic blanket in the muddy yard to a puke bag to a super hero cape for the dog.  I try not to freak out and keep my fingers crossed that it'll make it through the washing machine one more time.

Very nice quilt!  I really like the black and white contrasting squares and all the extras you added.

Thank you!

It took much thought to think of all of the different squares.  I ran out of ideas about half way through.  So I had to generate some ideas here on Crasftster and some people gave me some really great ideas.

I put my son on it and for the the first ever he wiggled his way all over the quilt.  Although later on that night I had a hard time quieting him down to go to bed.  I think a little too much stimuli!!!!!

Thank you so much again for the wonderful comments!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
