So I went to 2 Lewiscraft stores this week, and both were having Store Closing, 70% off sales.  At the second store, I asked what the dealie was, and was told that they had been bought out.  Anyone know the scoop?

Sigh.  So many Canadian stores being bought out or going under.  Goodbye, Bay and Zellers!  Goodbye, Lewiscraft!

I second what Lacey said.  I was told the same thing by my Lewiscraft.  Everything is being sold, and that's the end of them.  I bought a few of their wire yarn bins actually. I'm going to miss Lewiscraft.

I  noticed this a few weeks ago.  I was told by someone who used to work there about 4 years ago that her (busy Toronto) store was lucky to clear $2000 sales in a month!

I bought a bunch of yarn for 30% off two weeks ago, went last weekend and there was nothing left.  Walking past this weekend I noticed they'd restocked.  Yarn they don't usually carry.

I think they're shuffling inventory from stores that they've closed, or ones that aren't selling their inventory fast enough to ones that are selling out.

So if you noticed your local store was empty and have given up going back, give 'em a call to see if they've gotten any new stock.

do you know the store called bently - they sell luggage and purses and stuff like that - thats the company that bought out lewiscraft - or their parent company - they buy out stores that are closing or that burn down and selvage the product that they can still sell - lewiscraft here is selling some figurine trinket things now that they never woulda carried before - liquidation stuff from these other places...

Just a couple links for you guys to read about Lewis Craft... Sad to see so many Canadian Companys go under... it seems to be an American world of business up here, every canadian company goes under cause an american company buys them out, its so so sad. One of my last jobs was originally canadian then was half canadian, half american, then finally became fully american and then over half of the staff and some stores were let go across canada. Very sad, really, these days, Canada is becoming more and more American controlled.  Sad
