Hi  Smiley  I've been asked if i would post a tutorial on one of my amigurumi animal patterns, so here's the pattern for an amigurumi baby octopus ( bottom left in pic!)

I hope you like him, the baby octopus is the easiest pattern I've designed and people who have recently learnt to crochet can usually make him.  here's a slightly closer shot of him

One of my friends has crocheted 4 of them in really bright colours and has them 'living' in her bathroom, they look really great :-)

TUTORIAL

Materials needed
Worstead weight  / Double knit yarn, eyes and a small amount of stuffing

Height: 1 inch / 3cm

Body
Rnd 1   Ch 2, 6 sc in second ch from hook:  6 sc
Rnd 2   2 sc in each sc around:  12 sc
Rnd 3   *sc in next sc, inc,; repeat from * around:  18 sc
Rnd 4   * sc in next 2 sc, inc; repeat from * around: 24 sc
Rnds 5-7   Sc in each sc around
Rnd 8   *Sc in next 2 sc, decrease; repeat from * around:  18 sc
Rnd 9   * Sc in next sc, decrease; repeat from * around:  12 sc
Stuff firmly
Rnd 10   Decrease 6 times:  6 sc
Rnd 11   Decrease twice, sl st into next chain, cast off

Tentacle
Make 8
Row 1   Ch 9, 3 sc in second ch from hook and in next 5 ch, sl st in last 2 ch: cast off

Making up
Sew tentacles evenly to the underside of body, sew or glue eyes into position

Let me know how you get on :-)

Such a cute little octopus.  My sister has a rubber ducky themed bathroom; I may have to make her some octopi to keep the duckies company.

Im just beginning to learn crochet, though I've knit for years...Do you consider these to be a fairly easy beginner project? I just can't friggin stand how cute they are!
