I need help. But first let me explain everything...

I'm trying to make a quilt wall hanging with my grandmother. I'm designing, and trying to draw up the images we need. The subject is Japan, since I once lived there and loved it so much. My first son was born in Japan too.

The size is going to be about the size of a baby's crib comforter, center is going to be a Pagoda and Mt. Fuji and Cherry blossoms. I'm going to crochet the cherry blossoms, the accents on the pagoda, and the snow cap and valleys on Mt. Fuji. Then on the border my grandmother is going to embroidery different things that are specific to Japan - ie: geisha, sumo wrestling, sushi, chopsticks, yen, happy cat or Manekio Neko, lanterns, cherry blossoms, bonsai, temple guardian dogs/lions, Koinobori - flying carp windsocks that are hung up for children's/boys day in Japan...you get the idea.

My problem is I really want to do an embroidery of the Tokyo Tower but I am having no luck finding an image that we can use to embroidery. So I was wondering if anyone has come across one or could help us somehow.

I would greatly appreciate any and all help, we are trying to do this project quickly because my grandma's eyes aren't as good as they use to be...And this is something I really want her to help me do so I can pass it down to my children, her great grandchildren.

Another project I'm asking her to help me with is an embroidery of Koinobori for each my two sons. Also I haven't had much luck finding any good artistic Koinobori designs, any help here would be greatly appreciated also.

And I think she is thinking about doing a Geisha girl embroidery quilt since I found so many wonderful geisha girl designs...lol.

As a little girl, Grandmother taught me to embroidery, I taught myself how to be creative. Now I am teaching myself to knit and crochet - with her guidance...

I Googled "Tokyo Tower Silhouette" and got a couple of potentially-useful images:

As for koinobori, I found one very cool ink drawing:

And here's a collection of cute images featuring koinobori:

Hope that helps!

Does anyone know of a cross- or back-stitch font that resembles this image? Preferably about 5 stitches tall, bigger is fine but I can't go smaller. Thanks!

Maybe you could just type it in verdana, ca 5px high, and see what it looks like? Then push it through some conversion engine or just zoom in and count the pixels?

Hi! Supposedly there are tons of HP cross stitch patterns on the internet, but I've only been able to find a few on "Leaky Cauldron." Does anyone know anyone who has made patterns using words from spells and will share/sell the PDF patterns? Thanks!

I saw this piece over at xstitchhappy and I immediately knew I had to embroider it to make a bank login set cozy for my mom. (in sweden, almost all banking is done online, including all invoice payments etc, so that gets used at least once per month)

However, it felt wrong that the koi was swimming away! I know that a koi swimming upstream is good luck, but that is clearly a pond, not a stream. And when the surroundings doesn't show you something it's working with, things should always be coming towards you imho, not escaping you. So I turned the design.

The colors are very wrong here, primarily the background which is a pale baby blue / turquoise glittery piece. I don't know why the camera won't accept it (daylight is very cold here in winter). The lily pads are sort of right, while the koi is perfect - except that the white stitches are actually white!

The lily pads are still "facing" the same way as in the original design, but I drew the shadows on the other side (didn't turn out perfectly, but I still like it), duplicated one of the pads, and moved the eyes on the koi, using beads instead of stitches, because that did seem perfect Cheesy

I haven't made the cozy yet, but I wanted to share the embroidery, to pat myself on the head for finishing it! Cheesy

This was posted in January of this year - hope it helps you out.
