American Sign Language has always been an interest of mine. So, I expressed it with my very own stencil *grins*. Here's what I made to wear on this past Valentine's day. I used acrylic with fabric medium and freezer paper. There were a few more flubs than I would have liked because the fabric didn't stretch out enough. Good thing it was only my practice shirt. haha. Any ideas on how to get the colors to "pop" more on the black shirt? My original idea was to embroider it, but I'm too new to sewing for that. Maybe later...Thanks for looking and giving suggestions!

You could try doing another layer.  Wait till the paint drys, while leaving the stencil on, and paint it again.  Awesome design, btw!

Ooh, I really like that! It kind of reminds me of the cover of Green Days "American Idiot" CD with the white hand and red heart. Great job!

Thanks. As it relates to the GD cover, I was afraid of that. I didn't even know that Green Day logo existed (probably because I live under a rock. lol) until I passed by a poster in the mall. And that was after I made the shirt.Guess I should have gone with the colors from my first idea. I wanted to stay away from red or pink completely, but eh. It's ok for now. Thanks all for the comments and advice!  Grin

I think the shirt is beautiful! I love the design. It is one of your own?

I second the idea about layering with another stencil to make it 'pop' more. However, I like it just the way it is!

Thanks. Yep, the stencil is just something I came up with. I'll have to try the layering thing. Do you mean doing multiple stencils or layering paint? I haven't learned multiples yet, but that could be fun as well.

I was meaning multiple stencils, so that you can layer paint/colors. I haven't mastered it yet, but when done  right, it looks fab!

Wow. I love that design! Would you mind if I created a similar stencil for a card for my boyfriend? I figured I'd ask because it's you're idea and it's so great! <3
