I got this idea from a book my sister stole from her grade 5 teacher and then I dehydrated strawberries...
If you want to dehydrate food and you dont have a dehydrator all you need are: aluminum foil, a shallow cardboard box with flaps (the box size will depend on the quantity and size of what you're dehydrating), and tape...also plastic wrap if you will put it outside.
First you will need to cut off the flaps but leave one behind...DO NOT CUT THEM ALL!
Wrap the inside of the box in aluminum foil...and the inside of the flap.
Make the flap stay at an angle by taping it...the sun will need to hit the flap part for it to work well..
Put the saran wrap over the opening if you dont want bugs to crawl over your stuff...I put mine inside on my window sill and it still worked.
It takes a couple hours depending on the temperature and what your dehydrating...so start at about 11 AM when it is starting to get really warm out...
I hope that these instructions are clear enough as I dont have the book beside me...

That's such a neat idea! I've been out picking berries today --- now I'm tempted to try this out. We used to borrow a family friend's dehydrator before canoe trips and such, and I've been lamenting not owning one myself.
