I am a female union carpenter and would love to take that hammer on the job! I've actually been told to go home and make babies. I would have loved to use that specific hammer on his head.
Yeah! For you, and your friend. There are a few websights that produce tools, steel toe boots and tool belts more specificly designed for women but they always make the tools pastel(especially pink). I'm a jewel tone kind of girl myself or maybe animal print.

Let us know how your friend likes her tool box!

That's awesome! You've made a wonderful, thoughtful, original and useful gift for your friend.

As a female experimentalist with a background in physics, I need my own tools (& hardhat and steel-toes). My boyfriend was always amused that all the tools, including power tools in our place belonged to me. He would even point out that no he couldn't lend anyone a power drill, they would have to ask his girlfriend.

Wow!!  Thanks soooo much everybody!

That's great!  All girls should have their own tools.  Little story here:  my dad sent me to college with a small toolset and a drill.  I asked a guy to help put up my loft and he said he'd go borrow tools.  No, says I, I have a set of tools.  After that, all the guys came to borrow my tools - I was extremely popular!LOL
Haha, women SHOULD have their own toolset!  What an awesome dad, way to switch up the gender roles!

I have seen those flowered and/or pastel tool sets when I was looking for tools to fill the box...I definitely skipped on those...talk about ugly!!

Its so great to see so many responses from women who not only have tools but know how to use em, go you!!

Oh I told the jerk I was sterile and asked if that made me his equal. I suppose that was a bit of a put down but I doubt he took it that way. I also offered to let him pay my mortgage if he wanted me off the job so much.

AWESOME!

I'm a tool maniac ... and couldn't find a tool belt that was fitting so I had to modify one, a plus you could add to your feminist tool kit!

That's awesome! Those pink/floral "women's " tools always seem so flimsy, like we're going to use the hammer to apply press-on nails. Why would women need less sturdy tools anyway? I love your crafty feminist tool box!!!

minouette:  LOL  That's funny!!  All the power tools in our household are mine too.  For christmas my husband bought me a sander.  Gotta love those power tools.  Mind you my husband's NOT sexist in any way.  He irons - I use power tools!!!
