Brilliant!!  I just got a case of pre-swap jitters thinking my crap is no way near up to par.  This is a great idea and could calm a ton of nerves (I hope).

I was going to voliunteer to organise for you, but it looks like chelsea has that sorted.  How about rather than having a theme, you just have a wish swap - recently I organised the first UK instant swap, where half of the participants were first time swappers, and I think people found that it was a wish swap easy.  That way you can match wishes up with crafts, so everyone gets to work in their area of skill.

Yeah, I'm totally into this! I like the idea of a wish swap to keep it simple, although I don't know if that's simple for the organizer.

I'm intimidated by all these swap posts with a bizillion goodies. What if I concentrate on making one really great thing, but other people are expecting to get a really great thing plus fabric, magnets, and lip gloss? Since it's our first time, can the guidelines be ultra-specific about that, please? (Btw, I would count a set of something, such as prettied-up kitchen towels, as one thing.)

What do you think about limiting the budget, too? Like no more than $15 or $20, including shipping?

Since you guys are newbies, your partners won't have a lot of material to post-stalk (find out your style/skills/likes, etc.).

So, I would suggest having everyone make what they make best.
For example, if you are a wizard with beads you make a bracelet for your partner, or if you have Krazy modpodge Skillz you make your partner an altered altoid tin. Something small, but something you are awesome at.

That way you are making what you are most skilled at, and in the future your partners can see your best effort when they post-stalk you.

Just a thought, and if you need a seasoned "oldster-organizer" I can help out, or the mods are awesome to ask questions of if you are organizing.  Cheesy  Good luck, and I can't wait to see the gallery!
