Does anybody know of any stores that specialize in unique and unusual beads and charms?  I've tried the internet and the phone book, but I'd like to hear what people have to say about them.

I know there are at least two on priest bewteen university and the 60, as I drive past them on the way to work. But I've never been in. One is called beads galore and I want to say the other one has AZ in its name, but I could be wrong. I too am interested to see what everybody has to say.

There's a bead store on Scottsdale Rd just past the 202 on the West side in the same plaza as the restaurant La Fonda (N of Tempe).  I looked in through the window and it didn't look your run of the mill bead store, but I didn't go in

I'm planning to go soon though and will post what I find...

definitely check out beads galore in tempe (southern & priest) and/or the bead museum in downtown glendale (around 59th avenue & glendale).

other places that you might try are bead world in phoenix (16th street, north of bethany), another bead please in tempe (warner, west of the 101), or even drumbeat indian arts in phoenix (16th street, north of indian school) depending on what you're after.

the second place crafty mama mentioned is arizona bead company.  i've never been in there so i'm not sure what they have.  another store, lonnie's, has a location in phoenix and mesa, but i believe they are geared more towards jewelry making supplies. (the website does mention beads though.)  there's also az gems gifts & beads (priest, south of broadway) but they only carry semi-precious stones and such.  if you're in the west valley you might find something at d&i beads in peoria (75th avenue & cactus).

I've gone to beads galore a lot and they do have some nice stuff. They have a good varity of items in their store. It's worth looking into to see what they have. I'm sure if they don't have it you can ask one of the employees about the idea who where to possible you can find it.

If you plan on going to beads galore - pick up a new times - they almost always have a coupon - and beadworld usually has a coupon in the yes section of the republic (on Fridays). I can't go into a bead store without completly breaking my budget, so every little bit helps!
