wow, thank you all for your kind words! i'm afraid i'll never be able to post a completed project again, because i'm planning on never making anything this difficult again!!

no, that would have killed me! i definitely used a machine, my mum's ancient elna. i did the hems by hand, and, uh, some were just basted because i was running out of time! no one seemed to notice though...
