is it just me, or is the post not showing up? sorry, i'm new at this! here we go again:

the inspiration for my wedding dress was a dress on the vintage clothing website, thefrock.com (http://www.thefrock.com/talmadge_page1_main.html - scroll down to see the dress - it's blue ombre, about half-way down the page on the left)

i drafted a pattern on newsprint, and made a mock-up in muslin, which i ended up using as both the pattern and the interlining.

here i am sewing in the kitchen. the fabric i chose was white silk charmeuse - very slippery, tricky to work with, and any errant pinholes or marks will show. i pressed the fabric with a touch of easy-on starch before working on it, to make it hold still.



the ironing never stops!



here's a shot of the flange-thingy - the silk was a pain to work with, but beautifully drapey:

and finally, married! the dress worked!
