so i followed GraceOblivious's lead and picked up my needles today. after reading through all of her tutorials and this one here:

i took a little artistic flair and made this (about actual size):


sorry, the image is kind of blurry. no macro on the bf's camera.

i was so intimidated by the sharp, barbed, needles, but it isn't nearly as scary as i imagined.

edit: i got really close and personal with my needles on the ferry yesterday and made this:

Felting on the ferry.  K8 you are great.  Love that little flower and a bead you just added.  I've been making flowers too.  We must be wishing for spring!  Still a couple of months away here.
