Talk about worth the wait!!! I received a package with a CD, CD insert booklet and a pair of gorgeous earrings. The earrings are very much my style so I will be wearing them very frequently. My little girls think they are quite the prettiest thing ever.
So, here's the lot, and you will see that the cd booklet features Dorothy the Dinosaur fronting a whole lot of fruity goodness - a wonderful collage. The cd itself is coloured too (wish I'd thought of that). The earrings feature pink star beads which have random squiggles of gold on them which from certain angles look like chinese characters or like little drawings - it's a lovely effect.
On to the CD now... it featured these tracks:
"Because of You" - Kelly Clarkson
"Where is the What if the What is in Why?" - Moloko
"Not My Idea" - Garbage
"Lotus Eaters" - Moloko
"That's When You Come To Me" - George
"The Trick Is To Keep Breathing" - Garbage
"Wandering Star" - Portishead
"My Beautiful Friend" - Guy Sebastian
And on to the booklet. This was designed and assembled in a really innovative and amazing way. Each page has a hand drawn picture - sometimes coloured and sometimes partly coloured, and on each page there is a fold out lyric sheet for each of the songs. You'll see what I mean in the following pics (you will see my 2yo daughters fingers here and there - she was fascinated by Mummy's flap book):
It is a beautiful creation and I'm so delighted (and proud) to have received it.
The song selection is lovely - in fact only one of the songs was one I already had (Portishead's Wandering Star). I am completing a lyrics analysis exercise as part of my Linguistics subject at Uni and one of the songs on this CD is perfect for the assignment - Garbage's Not My Idea. I had other Garbage songs in my music collection, but not this one, and I'm just rapt at the coincidence that the lyrics were just what I was looking for.
Finally, there were secrets included in the book... and they will stay secret! Suffice to say that even though we have different lives in some respects, the secrets my secret swapper chose to share had similarities to some secrets I live with too, and although some things make life more challenging to live with, they can be lived with and can offer pathways to new kinds of understanding and acceptance.
