I honestly haven't had the time to read though all of the book yet, or even listen to it, but what I have read so far is really cool and I am excited to sit down with it over the next week (when I finally have some spare time!) and really go through it.

The playlist:

The CD:

The booklet has all of the song lyrics and little artistic insert cards that explain why the song was chosen. It must have taken a long while and I totally appreciate the effort. Thanks secret sender!

i know my partner received, so i'm posting what i sent:

I don't have 5 secrets, so i wrote 10 things about me (and two secrets).   each song has to do with something about me...i explained the first 10...and then just included the other 12 (cause 5 songs is not a long enough cd for my tastes)

the playlist:
Bridges and Balloons- Joanna Newsom
What If No One's Watching- Ani Difranco
Too Drunk Too F***- Dead Kennedys
Psychobitches Outta Hell- Horrorpops
Oh Bondage, Up Yours!
I F***ed a Zombie- The Deadutantes
Hot Topic- Le  Tigre
One Finger Victory Salute- Little Light
Feeling is Wrong- Hail SOcial
I Touch Myself- The Divynals
Friday Night, Saturday Moring- THe specials
One Beat- Sleater Kinney
Just can't Get Enough- Nouvelle Vague (depeche mode cover)
Take Your Mama Out- Scissor Sisters
F.T.W.-TigerArmy
White Rabbit- Jefferson Airplane
Suck My Left One- Bikini Kill
Like Eating Glass- Bloc Party
Disposable Parts- Enon
Paper Bag- Fiona Apple
Why DO you Love Me- Garbage
Too Drunk to F***- Nouvelle Vague

(i thought i should edit on on this thread)

I made a little booklet (which i did not take a picture of my before my batteries died)

and a little clutch

which is about 5x8 so it perfectly fit the cd!

I can't believe I forgot to thank you publically actoneends!  Your CD freakin' rocks.  I can't tell you how much I love the song, "Too Drunk to F***".  And the clutch...it's just too damn cute.  I've taken it to the bar a couple times now and gotten tons of compliments.  Thanks for posting a picture of it for me!

oh, stop, you've already thanked me.

and i love that it's your bar purse.  believe me, i checked your profile about 50 times, and i kept thinking, "ok....she's 22... i hope she likes checkerboard"  and then the next day, "ok, she's 22"  and then the next day, "she's 22....but nebraska? i don't know anything about nebraska"  haha, so in the end, i sent the clutch because i love checkboard, and i have a history with checkboard...and that was the whole point of the swap.

and ooh, isn't the nouvelle vague version of too drunk to f***, amazing?  i actually got to see them live, which is neat considering i figured they would never leave europe.  ok, i've gotta stop talking!

Me too!  Mine went to North Carolina.  I assume it got there because I received a positive rating, but I haven't heard anything from my partner.  Embarrassed
I have pictures if she doesn't have a camera or doesn't feel like taking any.

Received today!
Talk about worth the wait!!!  I received a package with a CD, CD insert booklet and a pair of gorgeous earrings.  The earrings are very much my style so I will be wearing them very frequently.  My little girls think they are quite the prettiest thing ever.
So, here's the lot, and you will see that the cd booklet features Dorothy the Dinosaur fronting a whole lot of fruity goodness - a wonderful collage.  The cd itself is coloured too (wish I'd thought of that).  The earrings feature pink star beads which have random squiggles of gold on them which from certain angles look like chinese characters or like little drawings - it's a lovely effect.

On to the CD now... it featured these tracks:
"Because of You" - Kelly Clarkson
"Where is the What if the What is in Why?" - Moloko
"Not My Idea" - Garbage
"Lotus Eaters" - Moloko
"That's When You Come To Me" - George
"The Trick Is To Keep Breathing" - Garbage
"Wandering Star" - Portishead
"My Beautiful Friend" - Guy Sebastian
And on to the booklet.  This was designed and assembled in a really innovative and amazing way.  Each page has a hand drawn picture - sometimes coloured and sometimes partly coloured, and on each page there is a fold out lyric sheet for each of the songs.  You'll see what I mean in the following pics (you will see my 2yo daughters fingers here and there - she was fascinated by Mummy's flap book):

It is a beautiful creation and I'm so delighted (and proud) to have received it.
The song selection is lovely - in fact only one of the songs was one I already had (Portishead's Wandering Star).  I am completing a lyrics analysis exercise as part of my Linguistics subject at Uni and one of the songs on this CD is perfect for the assignment - Garbage's Not My Idea.  I had other Garbage songs in my music collection, but not this one, and I'm just rapt at the coincidence that the lyrics were just what I was looking for.

Finally, there were secrets included in the book... and they will stay secret!  Suffice to say that even though we have different lives in some respects, the secrets my secret swapper chose to share had similarities to some secrets I live with too, and although some things make life more challenging to live with, they can be lived with and can offer pathways to new kinds of understanding and acceptance.

Since my partner never posted, I figured I'd put up what I sent for this swap.  Some of the pictures were taken before I completely finished everything, so I know certain things look a bit sloppy.

A felt case for the CD (the picture is on cardstock and sewn on):

The front of the booklet:

First page with flip-up song list:

Example of some of the pages:

Back cover (says "pollen" under the picture):

Has anyone else found that they would choose totally different songs now if they had to do this swap over again?
