I want someone (maybe me) to organize a monthly Crafty Meeting, where we have a demo of some easy new craft like a t-shirt recon that doesn't require a sewing machine, or how to make a duct-tape wallet, etc.  I can already do all of those things, but it would be tons of fun to make it and see what way everyone else interprets a simple craft.

I bet the Counter Culture Cafe would host it.

counterculture cafe is on mcdowell just west of 24th street.  they are open 24 hours!  besides coffee they serve up art, music, poetry, and also have a boutique downstairs.

wow, wasn't that totally cheesy when i said they "serve up" art n' stuff?? (nevermind, don't answer that.)

This is a great idea! There was a local yahoo group that used to meet up to do similar things, but they recently disbanded. I would love to be in on this, if it comes around....

My fiance and I live in Tempe and would like to meet up with other crafters in the area. Since moving from the Philadelphia/south Jersey area we haven't found too many things to do.

You can check out our work at   http://vagrantaesthetic.etsy.com

I'm flexible too - pretty much any day will work for me. Any thoughts on what people want to learn/do?

Hi everybody,  I'll start a new thread with this too, but I thought I post here to be sure it got out.....

I have an e-mail from a local girl named Katie who is wondering if there is any place in Phoenix (bar, cafe, whatever) where people get together to watch Project Runway.  The finale is Wednesday night.

It's embarrassing to admit, but I usually go to bed on Wednesday night and watch it in the morning.  Of course, I read the results from the east coast folks first - they're FINISHED by 9:00 our time and the show doesn't even start here until 11:00.  Grrrrr....

Anyway, does anyone know of a place to watch this?  Anyone want to host a PRFinale party?  Anyone interested?

Thanks ladies!

Sincerely,
Laura K

There is a little vegan restaurant on Scottsdale road in Tempe called "Green" that has really good food and could fit about 20 people. I just want to go again to get another tsoynami!

We're up for traveling so if it isn't near tempe/mesa, we don't mind. Every friday night we go to Tranzylvania on 700 N Central: crafty goths unite!  Smiley

I'd be down for a meetup at Green.  I'm always down for finding a new vegan restaurant.

I just found another vegan cafe on Baseline in Tempe. It's between Mill and Rural. The menu isn't as adventurous as Green and I did find a small bug in my teriyaki tofu (which I jokingly said was not vegan) but I got two free chocolate chip cookies out of it.

Anyway, it's big enough to house however many crafters show up...if it ever happens.

Alright ladies, we have to get together it's getting desperate!!

If someone doesn't teach me to cast on soon I'm going to buy a knifty knitter!!!!

I have books I have videos I have the knitting supplies,....

what I can't figure out is how to simply cast on, am I hopeless???

at this point am tempted to pay for a knitting class, but am hoping for an alternative.  I remember someone saying that the local stitch n bitch meets and would show me. - I think?
