I was going to post these to the cheap eats board, but decided to start a new thread instead!! I found these in my mom's recipe file.... The only one which requires a bit of advance prep is the sticky buns recipe, but the sticky buns are fab (don't worry if they look weird when you cover them for the night, they will look and taste great after they bake!!!). They turn out kind of carmalized. Mmm...
What are everyone's favorite family recipes?? or favorite recipes in general? Pick a few and post em if you want!


Sticky Buns

-18 Rhodes dinner rolls (frozen)
         Put rolls in buttered bundt pan
-1 pkg. regular butterscotch pudding (not 3.5 oz instant!!)
-1/2 stick butter or margarine
-1/2 cup brown sugar
-3/4 tsp. cinnamon
-1 cup pecans (or other nuts...)

Mix sugar and cinnamon. Place rolls in greased pan, sprinkle pudding (unprepared powder) over rolls. Drizzle melted butter over rolls - add nuts on top. Distribute sugar mixture over rolls. Cover with wax paper. Let rise overnight. DO NOT REFRIGERATE!!!! Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes the following morning.

Shepard's Pie

Brown: 2 lbs of hamburger or turkey meat (fake meat would probably work well also, just be sure to get something like crumbles)
-1 large onion, chopped
-1 cup peas (canned)
-1 cup cream style corn
-1 cup chopped carrots

Put all in a casserole dish, cover with about 8 prepared servings of mashed potatoes (can be from a box or homemade). Bake in oven for about 25 minutes at 350 degrees.

Breakfast Pizza

-1 lb. pork sausage, Canadian bacon, or ham (can also use some of the meatless breakfast sausage, either crumbles of it or chop up the meatless sausage patties; or use other fake meat)
-1 pkg. crescent rolls
-1 cup frozen hash browns
-1 cup shredded cheese--cheddar, swiss or jack.
-5 eggs
-1/8 tsp. pepper
-1/4 cup milk
-2 tbsp. parmesan cheese
-1/2 tsp. salt

Brown sausage. Place crescent rolls over bottom and up on sides of 9X13 pan (or pizza pan--my mom has made it both ways, I have made in in a pizza pan). Add sausage, potatoes, and cheese atop the crescent rolls on pan.
Beat eggs, milk, salt, and pepper, and pour over all.
Bake at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
Serves 6-8


Hope you enjoy these!!! They are great for entertaining. My mom used to make the sticky buns and breakfast pizza for our annual x-mas day brunch with my grandparents.
